Currently, the iSense nodes with the Jennic chip 5148 and 5139 are both constructed using isense as device type. In order to allow a differentiation between the two node types on applications using the device drivers build in the possibility to construct the drivers with either isense39 or isense48. For backwards compatibility still let the type isense "point" to the same driver.
The actual implementation work is done in the wsn-device-drivers projects ticket 93. However, for TR there's at least documentation work to do and an announcement email to write.
