It can be beneficial to allow overriding the device type property. E.g., if a TelosB clone identifies itself with a different string in the USB data one could still set it to "telosb" in the DeviceConfig object and use the USB identifier string to match the config, thereby allowing the device to be used even though the clone is unknown to the wsn-device-drivers.
