xml_settings, name-changes #113

Here is an implementation draft of reading a settings.xml before options.txt or adapter.txt. There is also code to handle the case that if any/all "settings"-files are missing.

Then there is the older commits from my previus pr that hasn't been added to Mikes master yet.
