Building Out the Board #3

Hi Dan, your project fits perfectly with what I want to do. Was wondering if you could give some more details on how you built out the board, ie safely connected power since were working with 220 here. Also, can you post the fritzing file? That might help. I cannot tell for sure from the schematic where the pumps are etc. I took my box out of the spa and I am going to try to draw out what is there this week.

There are a couple of other good projects out there. I like the setup on this one. I like the use of the buttons on the box. Thats helpful. http://raspberrypihobbyist.blogspot.com/2016/02/improved-hot-tub-controller.html#comment-form_1152300156741273633

I like this one and the interface that he built: http://www.instructables.com/id/Hottub-Pool-Controller-Web-Interface/?ALLSTEPS

My goal is to get something setup and running and then try to tie it into openhab. right now i just want a running tub though!

thanks!

I've separated the control board completely from the box with the 220V relays. The only thing going from the control box to the other box is +/- 3.3V control, and of course both boxes are grounded.

I'm using pool equipment on my tub -- a cedar tub, not an all-in-one hot tub, so it's much easier...have a 200k BTU gas swimming pool heater on my setup. You'd have to refer to your equipment manual to see if your tubs pumps and heater support external control. I'm not sure I'd be comfortable trying to reverse engineer an acrylic all-in-one tub. For the pumps, I just switch 220V power per the mnaual (the manual documents connections for both my 2-speed pump and 1-speed second pump). For the heater, on/off is done by shorting a wire to switch from on to off or pool to spa mode, as per the manual.
