Reason for deletion?

Invidious is a huge resource hog. This was a problem for me for me around mid last year, so I moved invidious 'temporarily' to its own server, costing me $100+/year to simply host invidious.

This solved the issue for a while, but invidious has now outgrown that server and I either have to make the decision to expand the server or to make the instance private. I chose the latter.

I'm happy to explain my reasonings more over on matrix, if you would like.

Ok understandable. After the shutdown of the instance please redirect all links to https://redirect.invidious.io

It will remain up, but it will be behind a http auth.

I think it's better to show a personalized message instead of a raw HTTP auth.

The users will not understand what's going on.

Or maybe just use another domain if you want to use it privately. And make the public one redirect to https://redirect.invidious.io/
