[Feature request] channels lists #2150

The problem

Many users are interested to videos related to various thematic: information, science, gaming, sport, etc.

As one of them, I observe several behaviors:

Suggestion

Each user have now its video lists (eventually created with predefined list with common tags): information, science, gaming, sport, etc.

On channel pages, there is a new button Add to list, where the user can select a list to add the channel to (ie. science). A channel can be in several lists if necessary.

Finally there is a new page channels lists with a tab menu, where each tab displays videos from channels that belongs to the corresponding list among the user subscribed channels.

Possible improvements

Public lists: users can share their lists, so they are displayed in their public profile page, and other users can mark them as favorite to use them later.

Alternatives

Playlists are used to contain videos, but I would like to add channels.

Video tags defined by video creators could also be used, but they are not designed to be common between several channels, so there are too many tags.

Edit: I just discovered video categories (ex: Educational, News & Politics, Entertainment, etc.), that could fit the need I described if there is a new page that sort subscribed videos inside genre tabs.

How is that different from creating a playlist? You can already create public, unlisted and private playlist. A public and unlisted playlist can be shared to anyone using its link.

I just discovered video categories (or genres), ex: Educational, News & Politics, Entertainment, etc.

That may fit the need I described if there is a new page that sort subscribed videos inside category tabs, or a way to filter videos by category in the subscriptions page, such as an drop-down list.

I have the same or a similar problem with my video subscription. I have about 15 channels I'm subscribed to and it would be nice to have a list of my channels which indicate that there are unseen video's in the channel. That info would be sufficient to me. I can then click on the channel name I'm interested in and see what's new. So a list of channels with an unread/unseen marker would do for me. Actually there is a list of my channel subscription is already there. So only the "unseen" marker is missing and so I can decide which channel with unseen videos I would like check out. Maybe related to #482
