A similar-looking scheme to what the authors call T2S2-FDLBM1 has been described also in the thesis of T. Horstmann: https://theses.hal.science/tel-02091384/ (see pages 48-49)

At some point I was also considereding this type of scheme independently (TODO: add page from my notes)
