APM Planner distance to MAV request

Please could you add a distance to MAV option that shows in the units that we 
have selected in the planner, i.e. metres or feet.

When we fly and don't select a waypoint or loiter/RTL mode, the distance to the 
MAV/Home is shown nicely at the bottom right of the HUD, perfect. But if we 
then choose loiter or RTL, then that figure changes depending on what we have 
selected. Loiter resets it to zero and then shows the distance from the loiter 
point in metres, and RTL shows the count down in metres to get home.

If we select the user item DistToMav (D2M in our case), then a strange figure 
is shown on the screen that is of no use to us at all. Can that be in the units 
that we selected in the planner setup please. Also note it overwrites the 
display, like the battery amps does.
