@edgeofinnerspace I appreciate your playful way with words — it reminds me of at least a few dear friends of mine I haven't seen in a handful of years, so perhaps it would be appropriate for me to add a: (you know who you are) just in case — and your interest in exploring things that are a bit beyond your grasp, and your wherewithal to reach out for help. You also make a good point (indirectly or directly, I can't quite tell) that there's a stench of sexism in my use of the "dude" in "dude, whatever". I should probably call it the "like, just chill license".
I know next to nothing about OSC, MIDI, and SF2. I also know next to nothing about security. I also care very little for (and am at times actively hostile toward) systems that all businesses use currently. So I'm not sure I'm the right person to talk to about this sort of thing.
I also, sadly, have very limited free time. Perhaps you could tell me more of what you have in mind via email? ivanreese@gmail.com
And don't worry about explaining things in depth, at least not at first. Just give me the gist, and I'll see what I can suggest for your next steps (which may just be more back and forth dialog — TBD).
Ok, it will come from edgeofinnerspace or justiceinthesystem at gmail... depending on which device I happen to be using at the time. Just so I not relegated to the spam folder. I sometimes think I'm on the Google version of the "no-fly-list" - perhaps because of some grandish ideas like these...
But, it can't be helped. Unless we are living on the edge, we will merely exist to take up space. And as well, ideas find us. Every idea contains every bit of the information needed to allow whomever takes it upon as their own the duty for such to be realized as an extension of one's own Self. Which brings me to a curiosity you might have fun with; however I really would like to know what your opinion of this is.. as I said, I can't code, so I could be completely wrong in my exploration of such a notion. But what I sometimes wonder:
Context - For developers, when an idea hits and it's just something that simply has not been done - just because it's a thought experiment, let's take it all the way and say - the idea makes one question the actual limits of what "code" written in whatever language but written in a programming language that does currently exist... More specifically, for example, I design blockchain protocols (well, only 3 or 4 so far) and these platforms are nothing like what I can find at all on any blockchain or web3 exosystem, etc. One idea in particular I doubt could even be considered as blockchain, in fact, the system itself includes a fully developed (in the design not in code) foundation that would be synonymous in its role with what the blockchain is for crypto but entirely different. Anyway, I'm getting sidetracked. My point is, the ideas and designs themselves, I've found that I end up designing from whatever idea as a blueprint, entire self-contained concepts - I am saying this because I see it now as I type it - for which it is the first requirement. Because out of all the smart contract code, or web3 "dapps", wallets, JS or Python utilities that provide the "interaction interfaces", etc etc ...the code for these ideas just simply hasn't been written - regardless of if the idea has occurred to anyone else or not.
Question - How common is the thought, or is it possibly one that most developers at some point face or become aware of, that one has an idea and thinks: "This is beyond the reach of code/programming languages!" - or is it rather the opposite?
I ask because it occurs to me quite often and each time I reach the same conclusion that nothing I have designed, again let's say for web3, an e-autograph platform/infrastructure/interacting smart contracts etc... that after asking some top devs and researching as well for myself, around 85% of that design have no existing functions or deployed libraries or smart contracts etc to enable it. However, I know exactly how all of it SHOULD BE coded just not HOW to actually code even if I know how I WOULD even the specific frameworks this would be built on top of that have been written. But I wonder if the fact I cannot code it was easy for me to fathom that nothing I can actually conceive of as a concept is outside of the reach of what can be coded. Right?
If it can be designed at all, then it can also be coded was my thinking.
I apologize, I'm always a mouthful. I actually just prefer phone calls. I atleast am, way more concise, and because it is quicker, not as sidetracked so I stay on point (way too many concussions my friend). That and social cues from the other party even the most subtle ones, are how I navigate. With electronic messaging I am just screaming into the echo chamber until I've left and the other returns... at any rate and be that as it may the dude abides. I think the license should stay!
I wasn't implying anything. The dude is fine. In fact, no one can make me take anything personal. By the time we perceive the moment, process it, and decide how we feel about it, the moment is passed - and yet, these days, it is exactly from that feeling the victim has become so commonly identified with it appears. But if you see here what I am saying, it is here and now. Before the moment the dude abides. And exactly now a State of.
How common is the thought, or is it possibly one that most developers at some point face or become aware of, that one has an idea and thinks: "This is beyond the reach of code/programming languages!" - or is it rather the opposite?
The limitation isn't in programming languages themselves. We know that it's possible to write pretty much any program in pretty much any programming language. We have mathematical proofs for this.
The limit is that it's just plain hard for people to write many programs.
Some languages/frameworks/etc make it easier to write certain kinds of program. This is often why programmers make new programming languages — to make it easier to write certain programs that'd be otherwise very challenging.
But yeah, at the end of the day it's all about the human factors.
Dude, whatever kind of licensing is not only obscene but offensively justifies my defensiveness for yard gnomes who call themselves caterpillar farmers no where that isn't here. At any rate, your sense of humor as it is be that as it may must imperatively be what raises concern throughout my gerund shell to cause the verb in me to raise issue with and through the obligatory interrogation of such a thing. I will use this to validate the brashness of my public facing noun to further capitalize on the now victimized pronouns everywhere.
(Formatted key points below for TLDR) So to dispose with the disparate and spare both of us such frivolities, my interrogative, then, is this:
I see that a lot of your repos are very minimally stated and largely implied, meant only for yourself, or for you and who ever you work with to be able to understand but invisible to others. Or atleast it is for those like me who cannot at all code, even using some trained chatbot to attempt to fails me. I have an idea I have designed (yes I can design to the detail of the letter but couldn't say how to begin coding any of it) that involves OSC, MIDI, and SF2 working together as a single protocol for a radically more secure and more accessible implementation of an existing system that all businesses currently use even if it is completely abstracted away to anyone working for a company - oh and have no musical functions when applied in such a way actually!
I won't say specifically what it is here, but would you have any time to discuss this further through some more private channel? I am not asking for your help building anything. I just need a bit of insight or feedback from someone who sounds like they have some sense left about them. In fact, some pointless insight about it would be plenty. let me know if I can tell you more about what I have and maybe if you can't or don't want to help, can point me in a good direction or any at all. I have none currently. Obviously, considering the above lunacy. ^^^
