For many years I have been tormented by the question: “How did Phil and Rita continue to live after they accidentally managed to break the time loop on February 2 at Punxsutawney?” I know that the script very carefully blacked out any hint of the metaphysics of Phil's entry into the process and there was (or is not preserved?) no notes about the sequel or hints at the franchise, although Harold Allen Ramis, the director of the film, is known for franchises, the most high-profile of which Ghostbusters did not end with his death.
The film has only 38 episodes, while the script has 12,403, or 33 years and 358 identical days. It's impossible for Phil Connors to pass half of his life in one day without some kind of traumatic experience.
In order to somehow give an outlet to the plot that tormented me, I wrote a book that takes place in New York, 16 years later. Moreover, he had the presumptuous impudence, how could he translate the script synopsis into English and send it with a cover letter by regular mail to Ramis and wait for his answer.
Which, for obvious reasons, I didn't get.
In 2021, I pulled out the failed script, stylistically corrected something, and in December 2021 I began to voice it chapter by chapter.
