I like to request automatic switching to active device. The Netspeed-Applet of 
Gnome does it really good. Maybe it could be adopted.

I don't think that most people wants to switch from eth0 to wlan0 by hand.

Well this one would be very good too. Nowadays I have both wlan0 and eth0 
displayed in order not to have to change them, but having it autodetect network 
adapter would be good.
Just that I see some problems, for example when using vmware or virtualbox, it 
can detect the wrong network device, as well as it could detect loop or 
something like that.

If you implement this I suggest to filter up devices by wlan? or eth?

The plugin should now be able to autodetect the active device. Please test this 
version and let me know if you encounter any problems.
