Live Scan will first intensively scan your network 3x in a row with ARP, ICMP (ping), DNS, mDNS and SMB requests to discover devices and resolves hostnames.
Then an endless scan happens every 5s.
Enhanced One Time Scan
Before 5.0, the One Time Scan feature consisted of only 1 packet (ARP, ICMP, DNS, mDNS, SMB) per device.
Users were usually complaining of having to scan several times in a row to discover all devices of their network. Most of the time, ethernet (cabled) devices were discovered, but not wireless devices.
It occurred that wireless devices are often in sleeping mode to save battery, due to custom behaviour or 802.11 protocol for broadcast/multicast packets and needed several requests packets before answering.
Although this is interesting from a network analysis point of view to understand specific behaviours of some devices on the network, most users simply want all their devices at a first glance.
One Time Scan now consists of 3 scans in a row, although user will only see 1 scan: lazy devices have now more chances to be discovered after a single scan.
Notification on IP address change
This feature was already added to Debookee, and now LanScan also monitors continuously your network interfaces for IP address changes.
If so, it will popup during 10s, asking you to:
Keep LanScan results as is, without changing IP address
Clear all results and update with new IP address
Changes to Debookee
LanScan module embedded in Debookee will be updated soon with Live Scan feature, it already includes IP address change notification.
Migration from LanScan Po to LanScan In-App
LanScan Pro and LanScan In-App share the same code.
To be more consistent, we'd live to move our LanScan Pro users to LanScan In-App, for free, and seamlessly.
LanScan 5.0 has been released, introducing the following enhancements:
Download it on iTunes - https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/lanscan/id472226235?mt=12
Live Scan feature
Start icon gives now access to two kinds of scan
