I then attempted to install you extension as I needed the good work you had done for a small gallery implementation.... then came my discovery that both share the same name and conflicts arose.
If we are to have both as extensions one may need to be changed so people can benefit from both.

There been a discussion on the forum with regards to the old filemanager extension and the conflict it has with your extension if both are installed.
How would you feel if your filemanager extension took on the more relevant naming of
File Manager Field?I've updated the original http://github.com/symphonists/filemanager code to 2.3 on a local repo and was going to push the changes for use.
