本期生信书房为大家整理了2019年以来的单细胞领域的里程碑文献,尽管可能不全,从这个脉络中我们也不难感受到单细胞技术的成长和应用之路。不因御府引,怎得见波涛?既得渔父引,何不跻身这波涛之中?起笔单细胞技术的历史,也可以为我们提供一个视角,看看单细胞技术和其他技术联姻的过程。


比如单细胞技术也许可以回答脑的类器官中弥散的细胞间通讯和一个正常人的意识到底是什么样的关系?

如果T细胞可能会成为一种药物,那么,是不是每一种细胞都可能成为一种药物呢?

单细胞技术发展的尽头是什么?也许这个问题我们目前还无法回答,但至少可以想象:当我们对每一种细胞类型的起源、发育、凋亡、相互作用都了解清楚之后,我们可以做什么?在单细胞的文章中,有一大类属于发现型的:发现新的细胞类型或者细胞状态,发现细胞类型特异的基因、转录因子或通路。

这个发现的过程像极了当年神农氏在旷野中不断尝试,总结出神农尝百草。这个故事也像列文虎克在自制显微镜之后,好奇地拿这个去观察他能观察到的一切,写出《列文虎克用自制的显微镜,观察皮肤、肉类以及蜜蜂和其他虫类的若干记录》交给皇家协会。
