I tried the 605 library but it doesn't like me. :-/
/tmp/ssh/sshd: can't resolve symbol 'SSLeay'
Was the answer.
Just in case anyone compiles a matching library here's my patch so you can
include it
easily. You need to create a directory "lib" in the arcwelder directory and
copy the
library file there (changes should not interfere with gen5 - at least my 605F
didn't
puke or anything).
Cheers from openpma.org

Do we have a cross compiled version of this yet? Maybe I'm not understanding
your
method Thomas..

I'm having the same problem as well with a slight variance...Instead of
/tmp/ssh/sshd: can't resolve symbol 'SSLeay', I got the same as before with the
new
version number...
/tmp/ssh/sshd_config
/tmp/ssh/sshd: can't load library 'libcrypto.so.0.9.7'

This issue still exists, if someone with access to an archos build environment
can fix
this a lot would open up for the 604's.

Hello,
I have a 604 wifi with the 1.6.53 firmware.
I don't find any old firmware I can go back to on the net.
The "password" method doesn't seem to work.
I'm wondering if there is still a way for me to hack my player. Has someone
already been in my case?
