The word "lukin" is missing a definition. It also means "try to".

I've never used this website before, so I don't quite know what I'm doing. I hope I'm helping, at least a little bit.

Loved this dictionary... Keep up the good work!

Thanks!

I based the dictionary in the contents of the book "Toki Pona: the language of good – the simple way of life" by B. J. Knight, in there the meaning "try to" is missing. Some of the words have evolved and some others have died. Maybe the meaning is old? Maybe new? The book is from 2005. Do you have a source?

I read the whole book and I really couldn't find the word "lukin/oko" being translated to "try". But there's a website named after the language itself that shows the word "lukin" being translated to "try".

There's also a website called Tatoeba, which is a sentence database (you probably know it already). It's made for language learners and whoever wants to use a huge amount of sentences in several languages. If you go to the advanced search English/Toki Pona and type "try", a lot of the examples that will come up show the word "lukin" being used.

Maybe those are not great sources, but they're the best I could find. I understand and completely agree with you if you want to keep your website just like it's written in the book.

I realised I wrote my comment as an issue. I see an option here that says "close and comment" which is the one I'm going to choose, after all, this isn't an issue at all. At least in my point of view.

Thank you for your work. Your dictionary helped me a lot because it's a fun-to-use website. Success and peace!

I researched more and found a 2019 version of the book with that meaning and a few new words that I didn't know about.

I will update the dictionary. Thanks!
