Since you don't have a Windows machine I thought I'd step up and see what I could do. This patch only changes the test suite, but in a way that when the right things are uncommented it gets to loads of issues.
I split the Haskell tester into multiple modules
I added fsatest.c which can be a 32/64 bit binary which takes a command line saying what to do
Using QuickCheck we can generate random command lines and check we get the right answer
This patch doesn't fix any bugs, but it gives a lot more confidence that any subsequent patches from me are less likely to break stuff.
