Changes the flow of the make_sensitivity_image.rs binary to improve memory management

I don't have a strong opinion on this. Might as well carry on here, unless you prefer to open a new one.

I have very little recollection of what we were doing here, and how we had decided (if at all) to take it forward. Do you?

Yeah, I have forgotten what I wanted to do here and it's so out of date that it's probably irrelevant anyway. Probably best to close this. I'll keep the branch just in case but I doubt we'll need it.
