Could you try latest dev version (I've change the contact uris type, it may
help)?

Tried dev build for 0.00-15-12, problem persists, unfortunately.

Ok.

As you get same problem with other app, possibly something in the network.
Are you using wifi? If so are you sure there is no firewall on the network that
could block media RTP traffic?
If you are using the app under 3G, are you sure that your carrier allow you to
use voip apps (some block traffic with firewalls on their network).

Thank you for your effort! I am using the app with wifi only. I set up my
sipgate account with the sipgate presets. Also tried the advanced setup, but
with no difference. I also tried different wifi networks. The other apps I
tried were sipdroid and sipgate's own app (which is based on sipdroid). Having
the same audio problem with those two. (A HTC Wildfire seemed to work fine in
the same network.) If it helps: the only voip app that worked for me audio-wise
was 3CXPhone. Still prefer CSipSimple for its usability. Would love to see it
fly. :-)

Ok, FYI 3CX & CSipSimple relies on the same sip stack (pjsip) (but 3CX is not
opensource, while CSipSimple is ;) ).

So I guess they do something special with default configuration different from
my default configuration.

What could help me to find clue to solve the problem :
* Send me logs with csipsimple (there is a facility to send logs with latest
dev version - in menu > Help (record log, then try to make a call, the end the
call and back in help and stop recording, it should ask you for send me logs).
* If it's easy for you ( and if you understand what it means, else forget it ;)
), tcpdump what is happening on the wifi network on router.

Another thing I'm thinking about. If 3CX is installed at the same time as
CSipSimple, you absolutely must ensure that both apps are not running at the
same time. As both apps are based on the same sip stack, the defaults network
ports that they listen to are exactly the same... and so you can get conflicts
with the two apps.

I am also reporting the same issue on a Samsung Galaxy 3 on Android 2.1
(version 15). However, I have slight differences.
When I'm on my home WiFi, I can hear the other party, but only intermittently.
When I'm on my office WiFi or on 3g, I cannot hear the other party at all.
In all above cases, the other person CAN hear me clearly.
I am connected to sipconnect.ipcomms.net.

@trozzo : even with STUN and ICE activated?

I enabled both and still have no luck. I can be heard after a bit of a delay
but I cannot hear. I will test on a 3g connection later.

I have the same issue in company's Wifi network (unfortunatelly the one where I
place most of calls), my home Wifi network is fine.
Sipdroid works without problems, my collegue's HTC Desire with csipsimple also
works.

I'm getting one-way audio, other side can hear me perfectly. Using HD2-Android
2.2.1 + latest csimple build 0-16.

I'm sending you logs to developers email with reference to this issue and
comment 9.
At moment I'm not sure how to collect tcpdump but if you recommend a
application for it or post a link with more info then I can do it.

@xnova35 : can you try with STUN (and then with STUN + ICE if it doesn't help)
activated.

Seems that you are in a NATed network at work (that is not resolved by the
simple way). STUN may help to resolve this kind of problem and announcing your
remote party the correct IP address so that the other party will be able to
send you data packets to the correct address.
If one of your sip provider has a stun server, it's better to use their server.
There is a default STUN server pre-filled if you have no idea and just want to
test.

I don't have a slightest idea why STUN never worked on my mobile, neither in
cipsimple, nor in Sipdroid. Enabling it causes immediate disconnect and no
functioning in future. All sip clients just turn to dead bugs.

But BTW for me this issue is solved by forcing UDP (see issue 462,
http://code.google.com/p/csipsimple/issues/detail?id=462). Audio works both
ways, quality is good. Maybe your idea with "Force UDP" as default isn't bad at
all :) Unfortunatelly UDP is more battery consuming, isn't it?

Just installed the latest (market) version and tried again. Unfortunately,
nothing has changed. Again, STUN and ICE activated, using Sipgate's own STUN
Server. Also sent a log. Thank you.

Just thought I would throw my 2 cents worth in here. (my 1st post)
Csipsimple version; CSipSimple_0.00-16-00
Phone; Huawei u8150 Android 2.2 Froyo
Network1: Wireless Broadband HSDPA service using static IP address
Network2: ADSL1 1500 / 256 service using static IP address
All is working quite well with exception of 1 way audio similar to that
described here, which as far as I can ascertain for now is only when using Wifi
through my home network.
difference: ( wifi only ) Using STUN & ICE I am able to get normal 2 way audio
when registrations are fresh. after a certain time period I become unable to
receive audio from calls out to mobile phone services only. All other services
work without problems of this nature. ( note: this seems only to happen with
calls to mobile phones. PSTN & Sip to Sip calls don't have this problem.)

I have a 2nd DID service with the same service provider which I have running
through my home network using a Syslink Spa3102 ata. This service runs
faultlessly. ( I have also modified the ports on this spa unit away from
defaults to cover for any conflicts that may happen between my spa unit & my
Huawei phone.
I have also tried port forwarding on my router to the huawei which makes no
difference.

I've experienced this problem and found a strange correlation with using other
apps that utilize the sound device. For example, with a freshly registered SIP
account, incoming and outgoing audio work fine, even without STUN or ICE turned
on. But once I fire up Pandora and listen to some tunes, then try to make a
call, I am unable to hear incoming audio but outgoing audio works. I basically
explicity quit csipsimple and restart it and things go back to normal.

Another weird thing happened once when I tried to enable to audio routing API
to get the audio to come out of the handset instead of speakerphone. It didn't
work for csipsimple, but when I fired up Pandora the music came out of the
handset instead of the speaker. I dismissed it as a problem with my phone, but
maybe there's some relation?

If you use a non standard music app (a music app that does not correctly
integrate the android OS...) there is something to configure in CSipSimple.

Activate ExpertModeSetting (see wiki page) and in User interface disable
"Integrate music app" option. However if the music app do really crappy things
it's possible that it prevent me from doing clean things to acquire the audio
and completely break audio as you describe. In this case bug is in the Music
app, not in CSipSimple.

When I first reported the issue, I only had the music player that came with the
phone. Since then, I've installed Winamp, but nothing has changed. I also have
not had sound issues with any other app (including Skype).

I have this same exact problem. People can hear me fine but I can't hear them.
I don't even hear a ring tone or when they pick up but they hear me. Odd thing
is that this only happens on outgoing calls.

I tried using a stun server and that advanced for the music app. If it makes
any difference I'm using gizmo5.

The latest version finally works for me! Thank you. There is a delay (the other
party seems to hear me a second or so later), but otherwise the sound is ok.

Well, let's reopen this again. My galaxy S3 has same issue. I hear nothing on
latest version on Kitkat custom ROM using STUN stun.counterpath.net or not even
using it, with ICE enabled or not. while I use same SIP service "getonsip" on
PC over same WiFi network and I can successfully conduct the call and hear the
sound very well.

@ahmedm : please read ->
http://code.google.com/p/csipsimple/wiki/FAQ?wl=en#Audio_not_received/sent
It will help you to try to find out if the problem is with network
configuration or with audio layer.
The problem might be with audio layer and this happens frequently with not
stable custom ROM that does not support all audio modes. In this case, trying
to modify the audio troubleshooting options might help to workaround bugs in
the custom ROM.
