Create a small flame in your hand. Then with later bonus actions you can alter the size, shape, colour and light of the flame. It can also be used to ignite flamable objects (like a torch)
Evolves to then ignite things at range
maybe also extra damage to unarmed strikes
A flickering flame appears in your hand. The flame remains there for the duration and harms neither you nor your equipment. The flame sheds bright light in a 10-foot radius and dim light for an additional 10 feet. The spell ends if you dismiss it as an action or if you cast it again.
When you cast the spell, or as a subsequent action while you have this flame, you can produce one of the following effects with it:
You double or halve the area of bright light and dim light cast by the flame, change its color, or both.
You ignite a flammable object you touch that is not being worn or carried by a creature other than you. Once the object is ignited, you can immediately pull your hand away to avoid taking fire damage as a result of touching the burning object.
You cause simple shapes—such as the vague form of a creature, an inanimate object, or a location—to appear within the flames and animate as you like. The shapes must fit in your hand (or just above it) and last until the start of your next turn.
You cool the flame and safely dry a wet creature or object you touch without burning it. If the creature or object is Large or larger, you must spend an additional action for each size category above Medium to dry it completely.
If you use the Evolving Cantrips supplement, you gain the following additional benefits when you reach certain levels.
At 5th Level. You can use the flame as an action to ignite a flammable object you can see within 15 feet of you that is not being worn or carried by a creature other than you.
At 11th Level. You can make up to two flames appear simultaneously, each in a different hand. You can produce simultaneous effects with each flame as part of the same action. You may choose the same effect or a different one.
At 17th Level.
unharmed by fire you create?
use as bonus action?
Indefinite duration?
melee/unarmed fire damage (feels kinda weird to introduce damage so late into a non damage cantrip)?
Ignite any number of objects in range simultaneously?
expend flame to make attack that harms/blinds a target?
Classes: Druid, Sorcerer, Warlock?, Wizard
