httpx dropped support for Python 3.6 in 0.23.0, so in order to start using this version I will also have to drop support for 3.6 and update other packages accordingly.

The security issues that were fixed in httpx 0.23.0 do not affect this project.

Python 3.6 entered end-of-life in December 2021.

Looks like httpx is up-to-date now, so this is no longer needed.
