The Windows version does this too (it's not a bug, the layout spec does not specify what goes on the keys, pretty much anything can go there).
Ah, I think I'll update the script so that people can bind stuff to there if they want to but just by default leaving them unbound

The karabiner elements script does not unbind the the symbols on the top num row. I'm going to look into updating the script or looking into what Apple uses for it's backend so that all Apple hardware supports the keyboard out of the box
