As experience (see my comments on #2) have shown, checking the mnemonics for compliance with BIP39 (which is the list used by seedvault) can prevent issues. Means, checking amount, separator between words, casing and whether they are on the list.
What are your thoughts on this? It would increase the size of the tool by at least the list itself.
