Hi Steve, can yo use a bit more specific on what you want to accomplish? We started a discussion in #71 to include some quantity that can be used to include, a posteriori, dust emission (via an energy-balance model) in Beagle. This, however, would not allow you to fit the dust emission in Beagle, only to create (mock) catalogs which include dust emission in a self-consistent way.
We are planning to include a model for dust emission in Beagle, which should be a fairly simple task, but we haven't defined a time-scale for now
Hi Jacopo,
I have a few galaxies with data from the rest-frame UV to FIR. I would like to include these data in the modelling to get more robust estimates of the total SFR and also estimates of the dust mass.
If one feeds mid-IR data or even longer-wavelength data into BEAGLE, to fit the galaxy SED, does BEAGLE simply ignore data beyond a certain rest-frame wavelength? Is this a fixed wavelength?
Cheers,
Steve
Hi Steve, ok, so indeed you're looking for a model of dust emission, which is currently missing in Beagle. If you pass MIR or FIR data to Beagle, these will be fitted using only emission from stars (and potentially from photoionized gas), so you won't get any better constrain on the SFR and dust mass.
You may already be familiar with MAGPHYS (developed by Elisabete da Cunha and Stephane Charlot), one of the many codes that includes dust emission and can be useful for your particular application.
I will update this issue with new information about the inclusion of dust emission in Beagle
Hi Jacopo,
I would like to include MIR and FIR data in the SED modelling. Is this possible with BEAGLE?
Cheers,
Steve
