uMod doesn´t work correctly with Duke Nukem Forever #5

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. copy uMod.exe into the system-Folder of Duke Nukem Forever e.g.
"K:\Steam\steamapps\common\duke nukem forever\System"
2. copy "uMod_d3d9_DI.dll" into the Duke Nukem Root Folder e.g
"K:\Steam\steamapps\common\duke nukem forever", otherwise u get an error
message when getting to point 6
3. rename "DukeForever.exe" into "DukeForever_.exe" and rename "uMod.exe" into
"DukeForever.exe"
4. start Duke Nukem Forever via Steam
5. -> uMod ist started
6. "Start the game through uMod" and select "DukeForever_.exe"

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
- You get no background-pics in the Menu (only green with some noise) and the
Game ist foggy (unplayable). Links: http://h10.abload.de/img/1icorp.jpg and
http://h10.abload.de/img/2xdqwp.jpg

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
- I´m using uMod_v1_r40.zip on Win7 64bit

Please provide any additional information below.
- There seems to be a texmod-version which works with DNF:
http://forums.gearboxsoftware.com/showthread.php?t=126781
But the HP is down and I don´t know if it works with DNF after beeing patched

Well, that sounds strange. I don't know how steam interact with a game that is
started by steam and if Duke Nukem Forever waits for additional information
from steam.

Did you try to modify something, did you load a modd package, or does these
graphic bugs appear without any modification through uMod?

The normal way to get uMod work together with steam is to add the original
DukeForever.exe to uMod by "Add Game". Then activate the hook (in the menu the
tick for "Use global hook" must be set). Afterwards you start Duke Nukem
through steam and uMod should recognize the game and inject it.

You can also copy the d3d9.dll (out of the uMod directory) into the Duke Nukem
directory (in hopes that Duke Nukem loads this dll first from the working
directory instead of the system directory).

without uMod it looks like how it should.
I´ve tried the first possibility (start uMod, activate the hook and then start
Duke Nukem through steam) -> I get the same glitches as mentioned before.
The second possibility (copying the d3d9.dll into the duke nukem directory) ->
the same effect :(
Doesn´t anybody of the team have DNF to test?

At the moment I am the only programmer and I don't have the game. Sorry for
that.

A log file would be helpful. You can download a uMod version with logging mode
enabled or compile it for your own with LOG_MESSAGE=1 You will find the log
file in the games directory.

DNF. I still habe the green background, but ingame now I have textures :-)

It does not work with the new version or not with "uMod Beta V 1.0 (r35)"?

I don't have Duke Nukem Forever and I won't buy it ;)
