I'm not shure that this is a bug, but maybe it's better to use 
hlimap.ImapServer ?

I assume you're talking about the IMAP authentication backend. I've used the 
python's default imalib module so that the backend can be used on other apps 
without the need of hlimap. Because of this I'm closing this ticket.
