It seems like that adapter isn't suitable for use with USB OTG, since it has a
Mini-B
connector and not a Mini-A connector. Physically it looks the same, but the
Mini-A
connect has two pins shorted which (in this case) are REALLY important.

The Vernier website seems to not show the adapter anymore. I have updated the
listing to point to the Serialio.com version. The sfcable version was not
proper.
The connection must be Mini-A -- which is rare.

Digi-Key has made plans to stock the appropriate cable. We are waiting on an
update
from them.
