Using the booted image #2

Hello,

      I've made up a card and indeed my beagleboard boots up really quick - nice one.  I'm now looking at using this for something now.  I tried compiling python as a first test to attempt to get python on the system but that did not work (I just reported that there was no file).  How would I go about adding in components such as python, gcc, make etc?

  Is there an apt or opkg I can put on the rootfs - I assume the rootfs is openembedded?
