No apparent support for WebP in Picasa #13

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. download zip file of sample WebP images
2. unzip in your Picasa image directory
3. attempt to view ...

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I see the .png and .jpg originals

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Picasa on Linux (Fedora release 13 (Goddard); Picasa 3.0.0 for linux

Please provide any additional information below.
Thanks...

Yes I did run webpconv.
and linux considers webp files as audio/x-rif packages.
$file * | grep original.webp
4_original.webp: RIFF (little-endian) data

I think upload might work (I dont use that feature), but local view doesn't?
I'm on Windows with picasa 3.8.0 (build 117.43)

I can safely say that webp viewing is not working at all as of 3.8.0.

(deleted incorrect response)
I'm seeing the same as SDo. Picasa 3.8.9 doesn't view webp on Mac either.
A clue is under preferences, file types, you see for formats supported dont
include webp.
Changed status to Started, since we'd like to see full webp support in picasa.

Picasa 3.9 is now out, with WebP support in the client.
