I have a PAL N64 with Tim Worthington's N64RGB and I have installed the Ultra PIF chip on it. Now when it switches to NTSC mode, the screen becomes unstable and flickering. I have noticed the flickering is specifically visible on black screens. Also my N64 becomes relatively hot.
My N64 has a MX8350 PLL chip and MAV-NUS video chip. In have installed it with the direct VCLK method and with composite video. First I removed the PIF chip and soldered on the adapter board. Next I connected JP1 of the UltraPIF PCB and then I lifted pin 3 (VLCK) of the PLL chip and connected the pad to XTAL, lifted pin 23 (mode select) of the MAV-NUS chip and connected the lifted pin to FSEL. Finally installed the UltraPIF PCB on the adapter board. Do you have an idea what is wrong?
