Build system unification #3

I find the build system a bit messy, e.g. with separate, duplicated scripts for 
each platform.

How much work would it be to rewrite the build system using e.g. Ant.
We could still keep the scripts, which would just launch Ant. Ant integration 
with Eclipse and XCode 
should also be doable.
