Week 1
Decide structure and features of website as well functionality. Members will review existing sites, technologies and frameworks and chart out a basic vision of the final product, deciding which features should be given greatest prominence and focus.
Week 2
Data will be collected from various reputable sources. May need to be obtained using web crawlers. Will have to ensure that relevant data is obtained without placing undue load on the target sites.
Week 3
Once deciding what data needs to be stored, and comparing with the data retrieved, an efficient Database design and schema will be created. Data will then be migrated to the database.
Week 4
The basic website will be built that will allow for initial user interaction and testing of the first features. Will need a simple but appealing visual design that is also user friendly and intuitive in its use. This will be created using the Meteor framework.
Week 5
Ranking of universities in the DB based on their popularity and accomplishments. Adding the filtering features based on the user needs and wishes (Test Scores, Courses Offered, Deadlines)
Week 6
Further features and functionality will be developed allowing the website to move further towards the final product.
Week 7
Searching universities based on the attributes provided in the models and giving accurate recommendations.
Week 8
Accounts will be added so that users of the application are able to leave comments. This will allow a means of feedback as well as method to share information that they believe may be more relevant, thereby correcting any inaccuracies in the data. Account creation will also include certain measures to keep away spam bots and trolls as well as moderation features.
Week 9
Implementation of verified users in the system. These users will have the power to make changes directly to the database. They may serve as moderators as well. A history of all changes and edits will be maintained so that accountability is ensured.
