Streaming Jajuk output #1420

Reported by henk on 28 Aug 2009 11:57 UTC Would it be possible to send output from e.g. DJ to slimserver? This would make it possible to use Jajuk on a normal audio installation via a network device such as Logitech Squeezebox. A similar feature is available in MusicIP.com - this sends a playlist to slimserver.

@ Henk : honnetly, I don't understand the architecture you suggest, please provide more explanations. Few keys :

Commented by henk@carbonmetrics.com on 1 Sep 2009 10:09 UTC MusicIP works like this: you give it a song, or a mood, and it makes a playlist from that. In that sense it is like a Jajuk DJ. The difference is that MusicIP can send that playlist to Slimserver. At that moment you play your playlist on you hifi equipment instead of your computer.

To reformulate the question: would it be possible to send Jajuk DJ output wireless to hifi equipment? If yes, how?

Replying to bflorat:

@team :

  • Squeezebox seems to be a set of media center offering NAS service and media control over an house through wifi. see [1]
  • Not sure to understand what MusicIP.com does exactly

@ Henk : honnetly, I don't understand the architecture you suggest, please provide more explanations. Few keys :

  • Jajuk leverages on mplayer for playing audio
  • If Squeezebox provides java API, some connectivity could be possible

Commented by anonymous on 2 Sep 2009 16:31 UTC If I understand well, jajuk would only send a playlist in some format over some protocol to the slimserver and the slimserver would play it.

It could be done if some API/web services/REST interfaces exist to communicate with the slimserver and if we know the playlist format the slimserver waits for.

After few minutes searches, I cannot find any tech documentation about these questions, should be studied in the future.

Commented by Ron Lyster on 3 Sep 2011 18:08 UTC New to Jajuk... but have used Squeezebox for over 3 years. It would be awesome if Jajuk could play to Squeezebox - through a traditional audio system (not through a computer). Any progress on that?

Commented by bflorat on 4 Sep 2011 19:54 UTC Honestly, I don't see what it could be to run Jajuk through squeezebox. As long as I understand Squeezebox, it's a kind of "music server" playing "devices" including NAS, webradios... It seems to me that it is a Jajuk concurrent.

Please provide more details and use cases (if possible using the Squeezebox terminology at [

PS : by coincidence, I bought a Squeezebox radio few days ago, I'll probably use a Squeezebox server to have a try, it may enlighten me on this.
