The creation of a new device (or when creating collection the first time) is pretty slow when compared with previous versin 1.10.2.
I do have a collection of 2299 albums with a total of 23800 tracks.
With versin 1.10.2 it takes 14 minutes to create the collection (or new device) for this 2299 albums.
With versin 1.10.5 it takes 65 minutes to create same collection (I did skip versions 1.10.3 and 1.10.4).
With versin 1.10.6 it takes 37 minutes to create same collection. Much better than versin 1.10.5, but still far from the great performance of versin 1.10.2.
