Seems to be something popular, I convert this to a low priority task to be checked in 1.5, not sure if it will be implemented then

Commented by skyreacher on 9 Sep 2007 12:18 UTC I think "when clicking on play" is meant like this:

Music doesn't start with full volume at once, but there's a smooth crossfade from 0 volume to the volume the song should be played.

When starting a new song, this will not have much effect, because most songs start smoothly. But when you press "pause" in the middle of a loud song, and then press play again, a smooth start with 3-5 seconds of crossfade could be nice, I guess.

Maybe we could distinguish between starting a song from the beginning or starting it somewhere else.

If "pause" does a crossfade to zero volume, also "stop" should behave like this (my opinion ;) ).

Now the right word came to my mind: "fade in" (start) and "fade out" (stop) ... crossfade is something else, you're right Bertrand.

Commented by reinhard_68 on 28 May 2009 21:47 UTC Some news here?[also would like to vote to have a short fade out (length and activation may be configurable in preferences) when user abortively skip (e.g. via F10) to the next track (before the actual track has reached his end). [BR] Might be much more elegant as the actual behaviour which seems a little bit rude IMHO ;)

Commented by bflorat on 29 May 2009 19:27 UTC This is indeed a good feature. We may implement it in 1.9. It's probably something too deep to be done in 1.8...
