Requirements:

library should be persisted, so that it can be "restored" at a later time
- does not necessarily imply storing on server, could store references to local files?
- if local storage proves difficult, server is OK - will head in that direction later anyway

Hmh, seems like (for security reasons) references to local files is not doable. Files can only be obtained through file upload dialog, restoring a list of files so created is AFAIK not possible with HTML5/JS.

At least for the time being, settle with a configurable "library directory" that the server reads.
