Memory leaks #31

My last Cinnamon session had massive memory consumption over the course of 2 or 3 weeks. On the order of 4 GB virtual, and near 2 GB resident. (On a 6 GB machine.)

While Cinnamon has always (since I started using it in October) been pretty bloated with its memory footprint, this was a noticeable increase from the last lengthly Cinnamon session, and using this applet was the most notable change.

(I think I might have enabled a weather applet at around the same time, so it's possibly to blame.)

I'm less convinced now that the memory issues are tied to this applet. Since removing it from the panel, I've seen many Cinnamon sessions that have grown to similar sizes.

(I've also found it is possible to restart Cinnamon to clear the memory use, while not killing the currently running desktop applications.)
