These four options are from the installation usb, which is strange. Are you sure you don't have it inserted?
Either way, this repo is old. A maintained kernel is here https://github.com/linux-surface/linux-surface/wiki/Installation-and-Setup (the link is to the installation guide).
Hi,
I am trying to run Linux Mint on my Surface Laptop 2. I have followed the steps for the install correctly, as it prompts me to reboot my system for the changes to take effect. However, upon rebooting, it appears as though nothing has changed. When rebooting, there are only 4 options for me in the grub menu, those being run Linux mint, run Linux mint (compatibility mode), run OEM install, and something else about checking for defects.
I have read some other issues, which state that I need to somehow access advanced options in order to choose the new surface kernel. However, no matter what keys I try, there is no option to access an advanced options menu (or choose particular kernels). I've checked the current kernel using the command "uname -r" (after rebooting), and it shows the generic (default) kernel. Thus, the problem is that Linux is not loading the kernel, even though the kernel is downloaded and installed.
I am currently saving the surface kernel to the home directory (please let me know if this is the problem, although I doubt it).
Could someone please point me in the right direction. Thanks.
