Backup Fails! Error IMAP disabled or authentication (login error) #65

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?

1. Login to Gmail and enable IMAP.
2. Open SMS Backup on Android phone.
3. Select Backup Now

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

I expect a confirmation message that SMS have been backed up. Instead I
receive the message "Please make sure you enabled IMAP in your GMail
account settings and check your username and password"

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Product Version 1.1.1

Android Version
===============

Firmware version: 1.6
Kernel version: 2.6.29-00479-g3c7df37android-build@apa26 #19
Build Number: DRC92

Please provide any additional information below.

I have verified my username and password. I can log with my credentials on
GMail web application. Also, I have enabled IMAP on GMail settings.

Me too I'm having the same problem.
In my case I'm using the SuperHero ROM with:
Firmware version: 2.1
Kernel version: 2.6.29 eli@ubuntu #49
Build Number: hero-user 2.0.1 ERD79 22607 release-keys

I've used both 'username' and 'username@gmail.com' and the correct password.

You can find an "adb logcat" dump in attachment

Regards,
Patrick

HELP!!!

I am facing the same problem like the rest ONLY after I changed the password
last
week on 12 April 2010.

I have been happily using the SMS backup, backing up all my SMS to gmail
account
since I changed from WM Samsung Omnia 2 to Andriod OS HTC Magic phone about six
months ago. I only faced the problem like the rest only after the password
changed.

I have tried very hard and spent days trying to figure and solve the problem
but I
simply cant. Can someone help me? Please tell me what should I do.

Thank you very much!

yeah, about the only common thread I share at the moment is I changed my gmail
password recently and now I can't use SMS backup at all despite going so far as
to uninstall and reinstall the application.

So in essence, I now cannot use SMS backup at all whatsoever.

I now have the message "Please make sure you enabled IMAP in your GMail
account settings and check your username and password"

What's even more disappointing is that the last update looks to have been done
in 2009.

christoph wrote me when i had this problem and gave me this link:
http://googlesystem.blogspot.com/2008/10/advanced-imap-settings-for-gmail.html
- I added that imap-thing from labs and saw that the SMS label already had a
tick in the box - so i removed the tick, put it there again, and then tried
backing up from my android - AND IT WORKED!
hope this helps

I'm having the same problem.
I recently switched phones and since I reinstalled the app I have been unable
to back up my texts. I get a login error :(

Has this been resolved or looked at? Also getting the problem. Verified on PC
that my password is correct, verified IMAP is enabled... What else to try?

I have the same problem. For the login don't add @gmail.com just your username.
For me it's work!

I am having the same problem. This only happens over wifi. Backups fine over
