Starting with pgn file crashes or does not open 'Open Game' dialog #620

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Open pgn file with pychess.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I expect the 'Open Game' dialog to be presented (loading options). Most times
pychess opens without 'Open Game' dialog. Almost as often it crashes (log files
do not differ though from first case). Very rarely it works as expected.

Does it happen every time?
No.

What version of the product are you using?
Staunton 0.10beta3

Did you use an installed version of PyChess or did you run in from a
tarball/svn?
Installed on Ubuntu 10.10.

Reproduced the crash on 10.04 with PyChess rc1.
After the .png download pychess started, but got an empty/white open dialog
window only.

Hi Torsten,
Do you have a pgn file and engine set up that seams to trigger regularly?

Tried with world_matches.pgn from our testing/gamefiles on 11.04 and got a
frozen pychess. Screenshot attached.

Starting with --glock-debug --thread-debug now got an early freeze.

I can't reproduce this on Ubuntu 11.10, even with --glock-debug and
--thread-debug.

My #5 and #6 was all produced in Virtualbox. Seems I can't reproduce this on
"real" 11.04.

The issue #727 fix fixed this too IMO.
