High bitrate stream (3400-3900) uitzending gemist beta #271

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
In new version 3.2.5 in xbmc 10.1 windowsx64 no more high bitrate. In older
version you could select with each programm witch bitrate you would like. In
your new version you cannot do it manually but only trough the general setting.
Even when selected high, it does not seem to play the real high quality.

please attach an uzg.log and uzgplugin.log. Also, make sure you used the addon
settings to set it to HIGH stream quality.

The selection was removed intentionally, but XOT still chooses the stream
according to the settings.

As you can see from the uzg.log it takes the best available bitrate:

That is the best there is. The 200, 400 and 900 are just number that I set
from the script (because NOS does not provide them in their files). The actual
bitrate might differ, but you can be sure that the 900 is the best WMV file.

Could you please post a uzgplugin.log that has data opening a NOS stream?

What bitrate does XBMC say it is playing when you select high?

Besides that: we now use WMV streams because NOS broke the MOV streams. Could
be that those were a bit higher bitrate, but not that much.

eh xbmc doesnt say anything about the bitrate, i had before wmv streams in the
3400-3900 rate.

The previous version had MOV's instead of WMV's. Check the bitrate while
playing the stream using the 'O' button.

823 kbit stream for the nos journal
883 kbit stream in europa
882 kbit stream for dwwd

(i know for the first and latter one the quality was a lot better and higher
stream and that it where wmv files, cause thats why i made a case for the wmv
file streaming on apple tv before (a few issue's back).

For NOS there are 3 streams available, roughly: 200, 400 and 800 kbps, that is
all.

If you want you can revert back to the streams (from which not all are working)
that were used in version 3.2.3. Just open de chn_nos2010.py file and in line
300

isApple = False # UZG added GEO checking by accident to the flash movies. So we
must use WMV for now.

into

isApple = True # UZG added GEO checking by accident to the flash movies. So we
must use WMV for now.

(so just change False -> True). See if that is better?

Pay attention that you don't change any indentations (tabs/spaces)

It does work, just a little bit better, 903 kbit alltough quality seems better.
Why are not all streams working, are they stopping with it? Would be a shame
since the big quality steams were real good to watch, even on a big tv screen.

Thanks for the great work with Xot-uzg. I must say though, that I really miss
the option to choose out of all the bitrates available.

Sveriges Television has many videos in 4 bitrates, and my Xbox is not powerful
enough to view the two higher ones (which, I've noticed, are "High" and
"Medium" in xot-uzg). When "Low" is selected, I get the really crappy bitrate
and the 850 Kbps is not available anymore.

Hoping that this option will return with the next version :) thanks again!

I redesigned the complete bitrate selection in the next version. starting from
3.2.6 you can set the maximum bitrate that you want to play. XOT will then play
that stream that has the highest allowed bitrate.

So let's say that there are 4 bitrates: 250, 850, 1250 and 2000 and you set the
maximum to 1200, it will playback the 850 stream. This way everyone can set the
bitrates depending on either their hardware (like on xbox) or their internet
connection.

I think it's a better way of doning it than I did before. Hope everybody likes
it.

I think that would be perfect! This way your script is a lot more flexible!
