pass the correct link flags to M2 : various flags can be obtain using fflas-ffpack-config, e.g bash fflas-ffpack-config --libs

on ubuntu there is a tool

update-alternatives

to manage different packages for same purpose. Adding configuration of new alternatives is easier with the gui

In ubuntu, the static files seem usually be a part of development packages:
