Mouse pointer calibration #97

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Set Scaling mode to "1:1" and Input Mode to "Mouse Pointer Control Mode"
2. Use touch screen to move mouse pointer.
3. Mouse pointer consistently appears some way below the screen tap
location. For example, if Firefox window is open and maximized, to focus on
the location bar one has to tap at the very top of the screen where the
window bar (top border) is. It is not possible to access the Firefox menu
or the close/restore/minimize buttons in the window bar itself.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Mouse pointer should appear in the same place as screen was tapped.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
0.3.0 (latest version from Archos AppsLib) on Archos 5 Internet Tablet with
firmware 1.3.07 (Android 1.5).

Please provide any additional information below.
This is a AndroidVNC specific problem, not observed in other applications
on Archos 5 Internet Tablet.

If Archos sends me the free tablet coupon they promised, this will definitely
get
fixed :)

I believe this is an issue with how Archos reserves part of the screen for
their menu
button. If this is something that can be addressed in a standard way, a fix
should
be forthcoming.

Here's hoping you get your voucher soon!

I believe you're correct, the amount of space by which the cursor is off
appears to
be the same as the height of the Archos menu bar.

>I don't know the solution to the Archos mouse offset problem yet,
unfortunately.

I was wondering whether this info might help in any way:
http://appslib.com/developers/index.html?disp=full. The page also includes a
link for
an Archos device skin (http://appslib.com/download/a5_horiz.zip) which can be
used to
create a specific AVD.

I tried the Archos skin but it doesn't really account for their other firmware
changes which seem to be causing the problem.

However, they did come through with a voucher so when I get my Archos 5 I
should be
able to fix it.
