would it be possible to write a user friendly overview of Jamoma ? the current one : http://jamoma.org/overview/ is a nice geek joke but wouldn't help any newbie I'm talking a lot about jamoma around me since I'm involved in the project and people doesn't understand what it is when looking to Jamoma website.

+1

Since no body reads words anymore, there should likely be a 6-8 min video there.

:+1:

also, maybe we have to agree about what is jamoma... ;-) at least what we advertise about:

I guess the answer is: both ! But, then, maybe it requires a few pages instead of just one...

also, Trond did a synthetic presentation on the list a while ago... shouldn't we use it ?

bltzr commented 9 years ago

Btw this is one of the topic we are planning to discuss in-depth at the Lyon workshop (June 8th-12th), so every input is welcome until then !

Hi @avilleret - you are more than welcome to submit small and larger changes to the web site if you want to and have the time and knowledge. It's developed in Nanoc. When you commit and push to the master branch, the web site automatically rebuilds at the server, so it is all inviting incremental and agile development. And I believe we all agree that it could take some improvemements, in particular the front page, it's just that none of us have sat down and spent the time required.

@lossius I'm currently wondering where to put nightly builds of JamomaPuredata (and maybe JamomaMax too) is there a good place where a script can upload a file per day ? and I want to keep the github release page for tagged release rather than putting nightly builds there

and since my English is not the fluentest, I'm not sure to be the man to wrote long text (longer than an issue report :-) ) in a decent and worldwide comprehensive English (this sentence may be a good example)

bltzr commented 9 years ago

@jln- is usually pretty good at that, so I assign him the issue :-)

lossius commented 9 years ago

Hi @avilleret - as for nightly builds, the best would be to set up the build server at BEK to create automated builds. I'm pretty busy over the next 3 weeks or so, but once summer come, maybe we could line up for a skype with @hems and see if we can find a way of sorting this out.

hems commented 9 years ago

sounds good! would be nice to setup pure data builds too!

avilleret commented 9 years ago

actually, Travis is already building each push in JamomaPuredata : https://travis-ci.org/jamoma/JamomaPureData/ I'm just waiting for a good place to upload successful build. OSX build will follow as soon as Travis has a place for it (they are out of capacity for now). Also Raspberry and Windows builds will come soon.

The overview page is still present on the server so as not create any orphaned links. However, it is basically gone and there is no way to navigate to it. Thus, I'm closing this issue.

We should now have 3 overviews based on the new design of the home page. Each overview can be specific to it's core audience. Work for each of those should be ticketed separately.
