onscreen keyboard much slower than e.g. andnav keyboard #117

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.The inbuild onlscreen keyboard is much slower than eg. andnavs search
keyboard
2. It also feels very slow in comparison to the great performance the
freerunner/android has gained
3.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
keyboard which is usable for writing at least fast sms

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
kernel 2.6.29-rc-mokodev; freerunner-eng 1.5 cupcake 20100130.174221

Please provide any additional information below.

I think the keyboard performance is significantly improved in the RC 1 release,
can
you try that and verify that it makes a difference for you?

hi there. i'm using "better keyboard", think you will find it via google or
andapps
market. maybe you try this one, it has good performance and a good design. i
found it
when i was looking for a more finger friendly keyboard and since then i'm using
it.

I have tried to install anysoftkeyboard as it is opensource, but unfortunately
once I
change the input method to use it as standard, there is no keyboard at all
anymore.
Is there anyone who has experience with anysoftkeyboard? better keyboard looks
nice
but it is not free; though may be the final solution.

If you want use this keyboard, you must disable "Show suggestions" (keyboard's
bug?)
and "Key preview popup" (popup is slow) in options.

Hi salvadorbs, what version of anysoftkeyboard are you using; I tried
anysoftkeyboard_20100222.apk and
anysoftkeyboard_20100203.apk, but both close their settings menu almost
instantaneously before I can
manage to adjust them to what you suggested
