FT.com csv download format has recently changed, meaning we only get share prices, not fund prices #83

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Download the new UK FT portfolio
2.
3.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Total value rather than last price of funds. Share prices are OK

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
It's a general issue with FT rather than a bug with your software. However if
it FT downloads can't be used for fund prices the instructions on hle-ofx need
to be modified.

Have been using your software for 6 months to get prices into Money prices but
looks like I may need to change to yahoo or google from FT now.

Please provide any additional information below.

Mark, Thanks for the prompt response to my email. It answered the question, but
not in a way that I really wanted.

Previously the 'Last price' column related to shares and funds and with this
change it relates only to shares. I need to be able to download the price of
funds as well as shares. In fact it's to go into another bit of software
(hleOfxQuotes) that updates Microsoft Money now that MS no longer provides this
service from the Money software.

Is the change a permanent one, or could it be changed at some point?

Thanks,

Jon Hawkins

Dear Mr. Hawkins,

Thank you for contacting Financial Times Customer Service.

This is in reference to your Exporting Data Query.

Upon consulting our Technical Team why the fund prices are missing when you
export the data because the Last Price is not applicable to managed funds.
We are displaying the net asset value for managed funds. Similarly since the
net asset value does not apply to equities, the equity row will have "n/a"
under the Net Asset Value column.

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.

Subject: Portfolio Update : Downloading Prices

Hi, I keep my portfolio of shares and funds in FT.com. I download the portfolio
(for prices) every so often using 'export data' (CSV file) to update a local
spreadsheet.

Last week you updated the portfolio format. Today I tried downloading the
portfolio, and the share prices were OK in the download, but the fund prices
were absent.

Not sure if you've had this problem before. Presumably it's a bug in the
updated portfolio tool, but thought you should be aware.

Thanks,

Jon Hawkins

The data for funds is there but it is under "Net Asset Value" instead of "Last
Price"

See the information associated with Issue 82 for a way to get fund prices in to
Money.
