Problems with adding Czech words #1

Hi,

I have a problem with adding Czech words with accents like ěščř... into Anki Translator.

When I write a word with diacritics into the card type field, and then I clik the Translator button, it does transfer the word ito the search field in the translator window, but it will not search the word with accents when I click "Translate" button. It shows a dialog: "no connection possible". But when I remove the accents, means I edit the word in the Translator search window, it will search the word. So for ex. if i search for "řeka" (river), Translator window opens, prepared to search "řeka", but this is not possible. Then I have to retype it as "reka", only then it will show me the results. But... then if I select the "řeka" translation from the list of words (now it is shown with accents) which Translator searched for me, it will add the "řeka" and its translation into the correct card type fields with only one problem, that "řeka" is now there twice. So I have to delete one word in the field.

I tried to overcome the problem by not writing anything into the card type field and I directly searched in the translator search window... choosing the word... clicking Ok button... Everything goes fine, just when I want to add the card into my collection, Anki shows a dialog window: "The first field is empty". To overcome this I have to retype the word which was already pasted in the first field by Translator, or I have to click at the end of the word in the first field and add a space (or any letter). After that Anki will add the card with both the words and what ever you have added at the end of the first letter.

I have no idea if this problem occurs with other languages using accents or just with Czech language.

I tried also searching on the Pons online dictionary, but there the accents are acepted in the search window. So there is no problem.

Hi David,

thank you for reporting the problem. I'm currently a bit busy but will fix the problem in, I guess, the next to weeks. I will let you know when it's fixed.
