I've gone through this a few times now, with the manual steps and your build script. I have a fresh install of Debian Wheezy running in VirtualBox on x86_64, but the build just seems to die while or just after extracting stage0 [1]. There's 9GB available after LLVM and Rust repos are downloaded, so it's not disk space.
The VM is allocated 6GB of RAM, so I doubt that's it either. Any ideas? Is there some other log file I can check?
