HTC Desire AutoAnswer audio goes to phone speaker rather than connected BT headset #13

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Pair bluetooth headset (samsung wep210) to phone (HTC Desire, Android
2.1-update1)
2.Setup to autoanswer call after 4 seconds only when bt headset is connected
3. Receive call

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Expect phone to answer after 4 seconds and route audio to the BT headset (On
motorbike so cant push buttons). Instead the audio comes out the phone
speaker. The app should transfer the call to bluetooth if available (it
obviously knows when bluetooth is connected as it will only answer when it is)

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
AutoAnswer 1.5
Htc Desire Android 2.1-update 1 (Version 1.24.161.3)

Please provide any additional information below.

I've just upgraded to Froyo on my Desire, but AutoAnswer still does not put
sound through to BT headset (Scala 500)

It also happens for me sometimes on my Nexus One. Unfortunately, I haven't been
able to track the cause for this specifically.

I have an HTC EVO and can confirm that AutoAnswer doesn't play audio through my
Jawbone BT headset. It plays through the phone's speaker instead.

Just want to say that fixing this would be of huge benefit to disabled people
who cannot reach the button on the earpiece. Hope you can find fix. Using v1.5
on Evo with Jawbone Icon.

Hi. I just purchased the Aria from AT&T. I am physically disabled in a
wheelchair and generally use a bluetooth device with the phone set to auto
answer after a few rings. The ATT store manager downloaded the auto answer app
from the app store, but when the phone answers a call it loops the call back to
the phone unless you hit the button on the bluetooth... I physically cannot
reach up and do this and thus cannot use a wireless earpiece (we tried new
hi-end motorola and basic samsung devices and neither worked). My previous
non-htc, non-smart phones worked easily with any bluetooth earpiece I tried.
Without a bluetooth I cant use my phone except for very limited situations.

Does anyone have any solutions or suggestions as to how I can remedy this
problem? Please help! Thanks.

CharterSF,
I'm in the same boat as you. I had a WinMobile smartphone with VoiceCommand and
the built-in auto-answer feature. It made for a very nice experience
accessibility-wise. With my EVO, I've downloaded Choice Dialer+ which gives me
some voice command features, but it uses the built-in speech recognition which
doesn't work as well thru bluetooth. As for auto-answering, this app apparently
works on non-HTC phones, but not for us. My work around is to answer the call
with my mouthstick then immediately press Menu and select Bluetooth On. That
transfers it to my earpiece. Outgoing calls switch to my earpiece
automatically.

Hope that helps until we get a fix.

I depend on auto-answering because of my disability. I have HTC and bluetooth
and can't get auto-answer to work on bluetooth headset. Would be extremely
grateful for a fix to this problem!

Update: I complained directly to ATT corporate, and they were responsive
immediately. Their research dept. discovered that, currently, only the
Blackberry OS allows bluetooth handsfree answering with the new Motorola
earpiece. I exchanged my HTC Aria for the Blackberry Torch, paired my Motorola
H17... and off to the races!

Hi there. would it be possibleto turn on the Bluetooth, while in call, by the
use of instructions (Befehle)? Else I think it would be very usefull to be able
to force to Bluetooth after the call was accepted (auto answer).

My HTC Desire with Android 2.2 does not work as desired but probably as
specified. I use a Supertooth buddy in my car. Outgoing calls work allright
over the speakers of the buddy. Incoming calls also work over then spakers of
the buggy when I take them with the toggle on the buddy.
BUT: As soon as I accept a call on the phone (or have an auto answer program do
that) it will switch to the phones speakers. If you want to switch to the
devices speakers you will have to press Menu and Bluetooth ON. This is probably
correct by design but not wanted for "hands free". So I think that there should
be an configuration option added to force the speakers to the ecternat device
even when the call ist answered "by the phone", i.e. force the Menu - Bluetooth
ON automatically.
Can anyone do this??

Not 100% true. My HTC EVO now works with this app and Jawbone Icon. Didn't
at first but after the last EVO update it started working.

I have also the same problem and the stupid people from HTC Romania told me tu
change the bluetooth and other things that has ni connection with this issue.
They didn't even knew about this. Maybe someone from ather country can tell
about this problem to htc corporation because I wasn't able( they transfered
the comment to HTC Romania).
Thank you!

I believe this app is now obsolete, as auto-answering functionality is now
built into the OS. I know 2.3 has it, but I am unsure of earlier versions.
Can anyone confirm?

Settings > Call Settings > All Calls > Answering call > Automatic Answering

I disagree - the HTC 2.3.3 ROM for the desire does not have those settings
mentioned available - they appear to have hidden them. Hence my next phone
will be a Galaxy nexus - Android as Google intend it!
