Is this still actively maintained? Because I love this app and am super interested, but want an sms ui. So should I look for alternatives? Or just hold out?

There is a pull request to bring SMS UI. Right now the priority is to solve the issue and the bugs. Next we will bring enhancement! Everybody can contribute with code and pull request are always accepted.
